What is Learn-to-Swim?
Our Learn-to-Swim (LTS) program serves any swimmers not currently on the swim team, from those taking their first steps toward water comfort and foundational skills to those refining stroke technique. Some are building toward team participation, while others are simply developing lifelong swimming ability. We primarily work with ages 3–10, though we happily teach swimmers from 18 months through adulthood. Swimmers must be able to separate from their caregiver and work one-on-one with their instructor; while initial nervousness is normal, persistent distress may indicate a child needs a bit more time before starting lessons.
Why we are unique
Our LTS program is designed to develop strong, safe swimmers with excellent technique, while also preparing those interested in swim team progression.Different From a Swim School
Unlike traditional swim schools—facilities with full-time pool access dedicated exclusively to lessons—our program operates within the dynamic environment of a multi-use club facility. We thoughtfully integrate lesson times around membership activities, events, and the availability of our expert instructors, all while maintaining the high-quality, focused instruction your swimmer deserves. Our approach allows us to provide exceptional swimming education within a vibrant club community where your family can grow alongside the sport.
Forged Via Decades of Excellence
This commitment to quality instruction is built on decades of proven success. Our swim team carries a long and distinguished history of developing swimmers through meticulous attention to technique and methodical foundational progression. The same coaching philosophy that has shaped competitive swimmers for generations now informs every level of our LTS curriculum.Whether your child is learning to float or perfecting their freestyle, they benefit from time-tested expertise where every stroke, skill, and safety milestone is taught with the precision and care that has become our hallmark.
Instructors
The majority of lessons are taught by Tony Ravnik & Beth Rodrigues, Assistant Head Coaches of our swim team, who bring a combined 50+ years of swim instruction experience. We teach predominantly during March–May & August–November.

Our junior coaches teach lessons in June and July when their schedules permit & are exemplary Legends who have grown up in the Sleepy Hollow system as swimmers & leaders. Mentored in the same technical approach, they demonstrate the maturity, genuine care for young swimmers, & positive coaching methods that define our program's culture.

Format
Lessons are 20-minute private sessions, allowing for focused, individualized instruction tailored to each swimmer's needs.
